In Parallel Fates: Once Upon a Time in Luton, 1999, sixteen-year-old Haroon Malik navigates the volatile ecosystem of sixth form and late-90s Luton, armed only with logic, detachment, and a secondhand Nike tracksuit. As he observes the absurdities of social hierarchies and the seductive precision of the local criminal network, Haroon becomes caught between two universes—the predictable order of code and the chaotic efficiency of street capitalism.
