Daniel Kopke v. Frank H. Ranney Et Al‪.‬

Action by a member of a local union against the local union and four individual members or officers for damages for conspiracy
resulting in wrongful expulsion from the union. Defendants demurred to the complaint and plaintiff has appealed from an order
sustaining the demurrer. The following facts, in substance, were alleged in the complaint: Plaintiff was a member and steward in defendant general
local union No. 200, affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Chauffeurs, Warehousemen and Helpers of America.
At a meeting in September, 1958, plaintiff demanded information about payments made to the officers. The president ruled him
out of order. One of the individual defendants then prepared and another one filed charges against plaintiff, claiming that
his behavior at the meeting and other conduct violated his obligations as a member. The executive board found him guilty,
suspended him from attending meetings and holding office for three years, and fined him $100. Thereafter the local union refused
to accept plaintiff's dues, and expelled him. He has lost rights and privileges belonging to a member, including 'insurance
rights and pension rights,' and has suffered injury to reputation, mental anguish, and humiliation.
