Forgotten memories lead to a romantic revelation for a phoenix shifter and her best friend.
When Sera uses her phoenix magic too much and ends up losing her memories, it's up to her best friend Hugo to help her get them back.
But without the benefit of knowing their history, Sera soon uncovers her true feelings towards him. After an almost-kiss, Hugo realises that she's not the only one who has caught feelings, but he knows they can't do anything about it until she has her memories back.
Can the two phoenixes find their way to one another?

A Brilliant Spin on Phoenixes
Phoenixes are always hard to incorporate in stories and romances, but the author found a great way to make this work. Instead of them dying and coming back to life, they risk memory loss whenever they use too much of their magic. Friends and family then have to do whatever they can to make sure those memories return.
I also liked the romance tropes the author used in this book. Friends to lovers always has this awkward phase, where both characters are feeling more than just friendship and they're both scared that things will change if they admit that. Due to the memory loss in this book, they're forced to look at their relationship with fresh eyes and it makes this transition a little easier.
Not that it just happens. I really like how the author thought about important things like consent. Is it okay to kiss someone who misses all their memories from before? No matter how badly you want to? Once more the author does a great job writing a healthy relationship, without the story and book getting boring.
I can't wait for the next installment!
