Lectures to Professing Christians

For nearly two centuries, Charles Finney’s searching exhortations have stirred believers to examine the reality of their faith. In these sixteen lectures, originally delivered to his own congregation, Finney holds up a uncompromising mirror to those who call themselves Christians. He cuts through empty profession and calls for a faith that is wholehearted, obedient, and transformed. Yet his aim is not condemnation but invitation—to experience the genuine liberty and power found in a life fully surrendered to God. This new edition renders Finney’s nineteenth-century prose into clear, accessible English while preserving his prophetic urgency and pastoral heart. Whether you are a lifelong Christian or simply seeking what authentic faith might look like, these pages offer a searching and hopeful challenge. Part of The Modern Wisdom Library.
