Libertarianism

This is the first in a series of Manifestos for the Mid-21st Century. It is a thought experiment: what if politicians stopped lying, took ownership of the consequences – good or bad – of their policies, and stuck to their principles? What, for example, if those who call themselves libertarians didn’t immediately stop being libertarian the moment something happened that they didn’t like, or when their best friend’s business needed subsidy? What would those policies look like in mid-21st century Britain? How much could realistically be achieved in a five-year parliamentary term?
This pamphlet seeks to answer those questions and to stimulate, and indeed provoke, the reader to further thought.
