INTRODUCTION Cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) belongs to the family Anacardiaceae, with about 75 genera and 700 species. Cashew is a tropical tree species cultivated in many tropical countries of the world from its centre of origin in South and Central America to Africa, Asia and tropical Australia [1].
