Publisher Description

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Charles Dickens’ classic explores potent themes like good versus evil, crime, repentance, love and betrayal. At the center of the story is Pip, an impoverished orphan who dreams of a better life. When a mysterious benefactor gifts Pip a substantial fortune, he’s rescued from a life of deprivation and abuse-and introduced to a memorable host of characters: the bizarre Miss Havisham, a wealthy heiress who was spurned at the altar; her cold, austere ward Estella, who eventually breaks Pip’s heart; and an escaped convict who teaches Pip that people aren’t always what they seem.

Dickens’ novel-which was originally serialized in a weekly newspaper-contains major plot twists at every turn, which accounts for its enduring popularity. It’s a gripping read and a thrilling portrait of Victorian England.

A great book

I began reading this book with no other design than improving my soul, for I heard people improved their intelligence and understanding by reading it. after reading through this book, nothing but attachments towards poor Pip and thoughtfulness of my present state set into my heart, but I made out little, except it makes me reflect on my stubbornness towards unrealistic dreams. Not every one is entitled to a perfect marriage. I, least of all, would be likely to marry a man of fortune who loves me dearly and is mighty handsome in figure and person. What I am looking forward to is a deluded dream. One must lives his destined life. To a peaceful and simple life I will lead, reconcilement must be done to ease my mind and bring myself back to the person who waits for my return. This is life. Sudden rise cannot last long, abrupt fall will bring one back where he/she comes from.
