In this #1 New York Times bestselling thriller, FBI Agent Atlee Pine returns to her Georgia hometown to investigate her twin sister's abduction, only to encounter a serial killer.
FBI Agent Atlee Pine's life was never the same after her twin sister Mercy was kidnapped -- and likely killed -- thirty years ago. After a lifetime of torturous uncertainty, Atlee's unresolved anger finally gets the better of her on the job, and she finds she has to deal with the demons of her past if she wants to remain with the FBI.
Atlee and her assistant Carol Blum head back to Atlee's rural hometown in Georgia to see what they can uncover about the traumatic night Mercy was taken and Pine was almost killed. But soon after Atlee begins her investigation, a local woman is found ritualistically murdered, her face covered with a wedding veil -- and the first killing is quickly followed by a second bizarre murder.
Atlee is determined to continue her search for answers, but now she must also set her sights on finding a potential serial killer before another victim is claimed. But in a small town full of secrets -- some of which could answer the questions that have plagued Atlee her entire life -- and digging deeper into the past could be more dangerous than she realizes . . .
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In his second book about renegade FBI agent Atlee Pine—after 2018’s Long Road to Mercy—David Baldacci dials up the intensity. Atlee’s backstory gets even more interesting (and darker) when she returns to her Georgia hometown to uncover the truth about her twin’s kidnapping three decades earlier. Naturally, Baldacci’s tenacious heroine gets caught up in a serial-killer investigation that raises interesting questions: Are these present-day crimes somehow related to her sister’s abduction? How much of what Atlee thinks she knows is true? Narrator Brittany Pressley embodies Pine’s keen intellect and relentless determination, and co-narrator Kyf Brewer gave us chills as a convicted murderer who might be able to unlock the whole mystery. A Minute to Midnight is a tense and thrilling listen that will get your heart pumping.

Great
Had me not wanting to stop... can’t wait for the next one
A Minute to Midnight
I think I might have enjoyed this book more if I had read it rather then listened. I narrator seemed to be on a mission to finish faster then you could turn a page maybe there was a bonus for finishing by a certain time. Whatever Mr. Baldacci should definitely consider using the same person to narrate any more of his books.
Preachy with bad male acting
The audio book- the male actor is so bad! The author thinks it’s 1950 and he has to weave in his girl power and all his woke messages and it is condescending to his readers especially his female audience. I have noticed every female character who is lionized because they can be “ whatever they want to be” is always good at doing things like fighting and shooting. Never nurturing and communicating. The preaching is dull repetitive and has been done to death. Boring!!
