Publisher Description
By their nature fables are "fabulous," larger than life, the characters often using wit and guile to save themselves from circumstances. Aesop's Fables are morality plays. They illustrate what was fundamental to Greek culture. Their appeal to us lies in a logic we can still understand. This awakens an appreciation of how far ahead of their time the Greeks were, how enduring their thought was, and how much we have to be grateful to them. This collection features 185 of these famous fables.

It didn't occur to me that which copy of Aesop's Fables I got would matter- aren't the stories the same no matter who tells them? But... this version offers very short versions of the tales--as in, entire stories in less than 30 seconds, most without even the moral of the story at the end. I guess I've been used to more colorful, embellished versions the the tales growing up. This narrator us also male, British, and a little clipped in his style. It almost felt like someone reading off fortune cookies. I would shop for a version with longer tellings of the tales.
