USA Today bestselling author Meghan Quinn is back with a hilarious new rom-com series.

Sometimes the wedding of the century calls for desperate measures.

And sometimes those desperate measures are to pretend the person you hate most is actually your boyfriend.

After years of working her tail off at her event-planning business, Maggie Mitchell is ready for a vacation. With nothing on her mind but R & R, she’s enjoying the warm weather of Bora Bora when in saunters Brody McFadden, her brother’s best friend and also her sworn enemy. Thanks to years of tension between the two—kicked off by a make-out session at her brother’s wedding that ended horribly—Maggie has sworn to stay away from the man. That is, until she finds out he’s in Bora Bora for his boss’s daughter’s wedding, hoping to use the trip to win a real future at the company.

Maggie promised herself she wouldn’t even think of work on the island, but as word spreads about the “wedding of the century” taking place in the midst of her vacation, she realizes offering her services as a bridesmaid and planner could bring her business to the next level. The only catch? She needs to pose as Brody’s girlfriend to get the job…while letting him stay in her peaceful bungalow.

Tensions rise, irritation flairs, and despite years’ worth of bickering behind closed doors, Maggie can’t quite squash the sparks building between her and her new fake boyfriend, especially when she learns the real reason their first kiss was cut short. But as the wedding day draws closer and everything starts to go wrong, it just might be Brody who sends Maggie’s business crashing down—and her heart along with it.

Enjoyable duet-narrated Almond Bay adjacent story…

Story: 4.5 ⭐️s
Narration: 5 ⭐️s

Overall I enjoyed Brody and Maggie’s (BFF of Hattie from The Way I Hate Him) love story. The far-away, dreamy location with a boss’s daughter destination provided a fun setting for events and shenanigans to unfold. The brother’s BF trope can be tricky because it can of the potential for misogynistic infantilizing overtones, but those were happily absent here. The fake dating trope blended nicely with that, given the character dynamic between the MCs. Brody was a bit of an endearing goofball, but also brought the smexy when it counted. I enjoyed Maggie’s character slightly less - there were moments when she frustrated me - but I still enjoyed her chemistry with Brody. The secondaries I the book are great. I thought the BFF relationships between Brody and Gary, as well as Maggie and Hattie were so well-portrayed and joyful. They revealed as much about the MCs as the love story and that is always a big plus!

Though there were many on brand MQ moments of hilarity, I liked some less than others because some resulted from cringe and embarrassment for the characters (especially Brody). This humor landed differently than other MQ’s I’ve read and such moments just aren’t for me. Despite those moments, there is still a lot I enjoy.

This is another fantastic MQ audiobook. Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon were fabulous. Their talents complement each other and work really well with the duet format, which I just love and wish all audiobooks with two POV characters were produced this way! Clarke is the absolute perfect fit for Brody - an ideal balance of the goofiness and sexiness that just really worked for me as a listener. Mallon was also a great fit and her performance kept me liking Maggie even when the character’s behavior frustrated me.

All in all this audio is another strongly recommended listen. Quinn just continues to bring her audio A-game and I can’t wait for the next!

I received an ALC copy of the audiobook via the author’s team and rad via KU. All opinions are my own.

A Gem of a Story & Listen🎧 Delightfully Brilliant!

Meghan Quinn does it again and blows me away with another amazing and outrageously hilarious romantic comedy. This book needs to come with a warning label, to be prepared for sudden laugh out loud moments and to use caution when eating or drinking while listening or you risk losing and wearing it. “Bridesmaids for Hire” is an enemies-to-lovers, brother’s best friend romance and features Brody McFadden and Maggie Mitchell. These two have a history, one that Maggie can not forget and one that Brody wants to forget. Yet, they still harbor feelings for each other, but Maggie is off limits to Brody, who is best friends with her brother. Maggie is trying to build her wedding planning business, but she is taking a vacation in Bora Bora and does not want to think of her business, she just wants to have fun and maybe enjoy a steamy encounter or a few. Then he sees him, the last person she wanted to see, Brody, who ran away after they shared a steamy and memorable kiss at her brother’s wedding. Brody’s immediate supervisor was invited to the CEO’s daughter’s wedding, but she convinced Brody to go in her place thinking it would be a good opportunity to mingle with Mr. Hopper, the boss of the company and get on his good side for when he pitches his idea and proposal. When he got to Bora Bora, he ran into Maggie and what happens next surprises both of them. A light bulb moment happens when Maggie overheard the father was upset that a bridesmaid couldn’t make it and it threw the numbers of the wedding party off and thinks the wedding of the rich and famous could give her business a boost and as a planner she can resolve their number problem by volunteering to fill in and Brody was her way in. Maggie makes her pitch and her plan is a go and Brody is her new pretend boyfriend. I love how everything played out in this book, the writing, plot and world building are phenomenal, as are the character growth and development. The witty dialogue and the humorous situation and shenanigans, the hilarious situations are absolutely brilliant. There is never a dull moment in this book and the story has the perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Meghan Quinn, thank you for another brilliant story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Jason Clarke and Erin Mallon are brilliant at what they do and were the perfect cast to bring these characters and story to life. They understood who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and was believable in every role they played. Mallon nailed it as Maggie, grasping every aspect of her personality, including her fierceness and determination. Clarke was just as amazing as Brody and also nailed it that role. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters, too. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they capture all the characters’ emotions and have you feeling them all. They set the perfect tone for the story and handled the banter and witty dialogue with ease and landed the humor effortlessly. These two are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fabulous listen.
