Publisher Description

The Great War has ended at last. Archaeologist Amelia Peabody and her husband, Emerson, the distinguished Egyptologist, no longer fear for the life of their daring son, Ramses, now free from his dangerous wartime obligations to British Intelligence. Delightful new additions to the growing Emerson family and new wonders waiting to be discovered beneath the shifting Egyptian sands mark a time of new beginnings in Luxor.

However, the theft of valuable antiquities from the home of a friend, including a magnificent gold bracelet adorned with the image of the goddess Hathor, causes great concern. Ramses's encounter with a woman costumed in the veil and gold crown of Hathor herself only deepens the mystery.

With those in her circle suddenly plagued by a series of "accidents", Amelia attempts to connect these troubling threads into a pattern. But her investigation is setting her on a collision course with an adversary more formidable than any she has ever encountered.

Love the series

I love the characters in this series and Barbara Rosenblat is a fantastic narrator, bringing real life and character to the book.
Sadly these abridged versions leave me feeling I am missing the full richness of story that are in the unabridged earlier works.
Not sure why the audio publisher made this decision, but it was wrong in my opinion. This book in particular is the worst publication of the series I have heard so far. Tacky music that plays over the top of the narrator at the beginning of some chapters and at one point I noticed a section where Barbara re-read a section following a cough. Sadly the producer did not notice this and it made it into the recording. I still love the series and will continue to buy just because I want to know what each of the characters will do next and to hear Barbara's performance.

Children of the Storm

This entire series, read by Barbara Rosenblatt is one of my favorites. I would really love to hear anything read by Ms. Rosenblatt. She has such skill with narration. I also really do enjoy this series. I agree with other reviewers, that the abridgement is not great. Would really love to hear an unabridged version.
