Publisher Description
Revised and updated with over 600,000 copies sold.
Pia Mellody creates a framework for identifying codependent thinking, emotions and behaviour and provides an effective approach to recovery. Mellody sets forth five primary adult symptoms of this crippling condition, then traces their origin to emotional, spiritual, intellectual, physical and sexual abuses that occur in childhood. Central to Mellody's approach is the concept that the codependent adult's injured inner child needs healing. Recovery from codependence, therefore, involves clearing up the toxic emotions left over from these painful childhood experiences.

Narration Matters
Given the content, this narration moved way too fast. Tried to slow it down - didn’t work. Too slow and distracting. If you just want to listen to hear the words, this will work. If you want to take notes and absorb the content, I recommend a hard copy or eread vs the audio. If your brain moves faster than mine, cool. This could work well for you. Going to try grabbing the ebook using another system because Apple books sees the audio version in my system and won’t bring up the same book so I can buy the eread version. Would be great to switch if one version isn’t working for you.
Facing Codependency
I couldn’t get past a male narrator reading Pia’s book and I didn’t like the narrator’s voice.
I couldn’t focus on the book.
