We were awestruck by Tori Dunlap’s frank and eye-opening guide for building wealth as a woman. The host of the feisty, informative Financial Feminist podcast takes a hands-on approach to combating the institutional misogyny that’s designed to keep women from getting ahead, as well as the internalized misogyny that keeps us from seeing it in the first place. As she points out, most people’s ideas and opinions regarding money stem from our early childhood—which can screw us up for the rest of our lives. Dunlap relays her personal anecdotes and sound advice with engaging energy and humor, and she shares reconstructions of conversations she’s had about money and society with a diverse group of financial experts. This hard-hitting guide encourages us to fight back for what we deserve, making it an amazing resource for anyone—male or female—seeking financial freedom.

Through insightful anecdotes and practical advice, the author navigates the reader through the complexities of money with a feminist lens. A must-read for those seeking financial independence and equality.
Not bad, but I didn’t learn anything
After finding the author’s account on Instagram, I really enjoyed her content and had high hopes for this book. I was sorta disappointed in the book as her content seems so creative and interesting but unfortunately I didn’t learn anything from her book. Pretty basic personal finance info, I was hoping for something more than the timeless advice we all already know. Although, it’s possible I am just not the appropriate audience for this book, as she makes pretty clear, it’s a good introduction for people who are intimidated by finance. However, if you have even a bit of experience with managing your money, you probably won’t get much from this book.
Will read again and again!
I love listening to her podcast, and the book is even better! It goes in depth, has examples and ideas to apply (both big picture and daily tasks). I have already told everyone I know about this book and cannot say enough good things. If you want financial help or just ideas on how to do better, read this book.
