Finding His Fire: A steamy, small-town, bounty hunter romance

This is a fantastic romantic suspense and an amazing start to a new series, the story is original with interesting storylines that drew me in right from the start, grabbing my attention and captivating it the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about them too.Ford Montgomery, former Army Ranger, is a bounty hunter and his current assignment hits close to home, he is hunting for an escaped prisoner, but not just any prisoner, but the one who murdered his parents, Bobby Ray June. Ford’s investigation leads him to the ex-wife of the man who helped Bobby Ray, but Megan Marshall has nothing to do with her ex-husband, Waylon June, since the divorce. But Ford sees he is not the only one who is watching Megan, a known member of a drug cartel is also watching her and it looks like he is getting more aggressive with her. Megan does not know what her ex was involved with and she does not understand why it is causing problems for her. Ford is good at reading people and he sees Megan is in over her head and in danger. He takes her, brings her to a safe place and comes up a plan to find out what is going on with her ex-husband, why the cartel want him while tracking down Bobby Ray. The chemistry between Megan and Ford is electric and the two are great together and for each other. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some angst, action, mystery, thrilling suspense and a steamy romance. PJ Fiala, thank you for this awesome story and the thrilling, emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, PJ Fiala chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life. Rose Dioro and Troy Duran are superbly talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Troy Duran played Ford’s role with perfection, grasping his alpha badassery completely. Rose Dora did the same for Megan, grasping her sweetness and innocence and then her strength. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. I love that Ford & Megan are in their 40s and the balance of suspense and romance was nice, but definitely leaned heavier on the romance. The blurb made me think there’d be more action than the story delivered. This is best when you’re in the mood for instalove.

There's a forced proximity which means the Ford & Megan have a lot of time to get to know each other. Even though the story only lasted a few days - it was obvious they were a great fit beyond just sex & physical attraction. The ending was kind of meandering, but sweet.

Narration:
I enjoyed Troy Duran and Rose Dioro’s performances. They were a great fit for the characters and easy to listen to.
