Illusions Unveiled
Carrie and Peter have a past. They were in love since they were kids. Unfortunately, Peter’s life lead him in another direction. But now he’s back. Carrie’s child is sick, and she needs Peter to help.
Lots of sad drama in this story. A lot of good and bad memories. I was emotional early on and in spots throughout the book. The spice was soooo good! A good man trying to get back the trust and love he once had. I loved how he had the fortitude to keep driving forward and believing they would be together and finally be a faimly. I also loved how he worked through some tough times and striving to be better. I liked Carrie for the love of her children and the love that remained for Peter. I would definitely recommend this book/audiobook.

Narration review: 5/5
Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are wonderful. They perform the voices so well! This is Duet Narration, which is a bonus. The story is more immersive with Duet Narration. The narration was perfect for the book!

Wonderful Story & Narration🎧 A Heartfelt Delight!
This is a wonderful second chance romance, this is the second book of the “Ardor Creek” series and the story is as beautifully written as the first book. The storylines are interesting and contain a whole lot of heart, the story grabbed my attention right from the start and captivated it the entire book. I am loving how realistic and relatable the characters in this series are, the two lead characters are first introduced in the first book “Hearts Reclaimed”, each book features a different couple in Ardor Creek, a small town in PA. I recommend reading and/or listening to that book before this because you will get more out of this book if you do, plus that book is just as wonderful as this. Peter Stratford wanted out of Ardor Creek, small town life was not enough for him neither was Carrie Longwood, his friend turned girlfriend. She was the preachers daughter and they knew each other since they were kids. Carrie made a life for herself in Ardor Creek, she is now divorced after marrying the wrong man, a man whom Peter practically pushed her towards. She has no regrets because she came out with two wonderful sons. Peter lived the fast life for years, until it caught up to him and he landed in hot water. He cleaned up his act and came back to Ardor Creek, he works with Scott Grillo and is trying to make mends with Carrie. He now knows she is the love of his life and it has always been her. But she has trust issues, he broker her heart once before what is to say he will not do it again. When she is faced with a life changing decision she must reveal a secret, one that no one knows. I will no say much about it other than my heart went out to them. I loved how everything plays out in this book, the story is well plotted and there is never a dull moment. The author does a great job covering and handling real life situations, addictions, recovery, health issues and crappy upbringings. There is plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, a surprising twist, just a touch of angst and a wonderful romance. Ayla Asher, thank you for another wonderful story.
I listened to the audiobook edition, Kia Kennicott and Wen Ross are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They bring these characters to life, humanize them, give them their voices and their personality. Their portrayal of the characters is spot on, Kai Kennicott played Carrie’s role with perfections, as Wen Ross did for Peter. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen🎧
