Publisher Description
From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of The Darkest Minds comes a sweepingly ambitious, high-octane tale of power, destiny, love, and redemption. Every seven years, the Agon begins. As punishment for a past rebellion, nine Greek gods are forced to walk the earth as mortals. They are hunted by the descendants of ancient bloodlines, all eager to kill a god and seize their divine power and immortality. Long ago, Lore Perseous fled that brutal world, turning her back on the hunt’s promises of eternal glory after her family was murdered by a rival line. For years she's pushed away any thought of revenge against the man—now a god—responsible for their deaths. Yet as the next hunt dawns over New York City, two participants seek her out: Castor, a childhood friend Lore believed to be dead, and Athena, one of the last of the original gods, now gravely wounded. The goddess offers an alliance against their mutual enemy and a way to leave the Agon behind forever. But Lore's decision to rejoin the hunt, binding her fate to Athena's, will come at a deadly cost—and it may not be enough to stop the rise of a new god with the power to bring humanity to its knees.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The line between hero and villain is blurry to nonexistent in this brutal and exciting fantasy inspired by the figures of Greek mythology. Every few years, the gods are forced into a savage game: Nine of them are made mortal and sent to Earth, where humans hunt them in hopes of usurping their powers. Lured by the promise of sweet revenge, Lore—a mortal girl descended from a god who lost at the game—is drawn back into the bloody competition. Full of unforgiving violence, uneasy alliances, and questions of survival, this audiobook kept us glued to our headphones. Author Alexandra Bracken is a master world-builder, creating a massive, complex realm that exists on top of modern New York City, totally unseen to the uninitiated. And narrator Fryda Wolff drenches it all in the dark, moody atmosphere the story requires. If you’d get into a mythological Hunger Games, give Lore a listen.

Amazing
Incredible voice
hard to start but worth the read
it took me a minute to get into this book, however it was a fun stand alone read. I really liked the main character and wish she had more depth, the book did seem to drag on for a while and was longer than necessary. Although, it did leave me wanting more, or at least more development. I guess overall I would say read it, the ideals behind it are great, it doesn’t nearly compare to CIRCE or The Song of Achilles but I did enjoy it.
