Publisher Description

Richard Dawkins, author of
The God Delusion and a life-long committed Darwinist, abridges and reads this special audio version of Charles Darwin's famous book. A literally world-changing book, Darwin put forward the anti-religious and scientific idea that humans in fact evolved over millions of generations from animals, starting with fish, all the way up through the ranks to apes, then to our current form.

Dawkin's passion for his subject and hero are clear and exciting for listeners, who, whatever their religious or scientific views, will be intrigued and captivated by this involving production of arguably one of the most important books of all time.

Yikes

I have read the Origin several times, it is truly a classic and one of the most revolutionary ideas ever conceived. What I want to point out is that whoever wrote the description is way off. They claim that Darwin proposed humans evolved from apes. The proposition was that we share a common ancestor, as another reviewer pointed out. There is no doubt about this now with genomic data. In addition, the description claimed evolutionary theory is "anti-religious". Wrong. Many Christians accept evolution. In any case, evolutionary theory is a description of natural phenomena. Those who see it as a threat do so because they take "sacred scriptures" literally. Whatever you notions of God(s), the fact remains that Darwin laid the foundation for modern biology and medicine with his extraordinary insight and dogged determination.

Everyone misquotes Darwin.

Darwin did NOT theorize that humans evolved FROM apes, he theorized that humans and apes share a common ancestor. Regardless Darwin is one of the greatest minds of all times and so is Dawkins so this is definently worth buying. http://www.the-brights.net/
