One-Timer: Carolina Comets (Unabridged‪)‬

I honestly can’t get enough of this series. There has not been one Carolina Comets book I haven’t loved. When the opportunity arose to review this audiobook, I had to jump on it even though I had already read the book. With the right narrators, an audiobook can be a whole new experience. Hollis meets Lowell at her sister’s wedding to his teammate, Collin. She’s fresh off a nasty divorce and when he sees how sad she looks, he can’t help but strike up a conversation. By the end of the night, they decide that what they both need is one night together, no strings attached…and nothing more. As it goessssss, Hollis finds herself staring at the business end of a positive pregnancy test a couple months later. When she tells Lowell that he’s the dad, he is completely shocked. He has a muddied past with an ex that did him very dirty, so he is apprehensive about believing her. This results in the funniest scene you’ll ever read…and Lowell with more black eyes than he knows what to do with, courtesy of his own teammates. Literally, I listened to it twice and almost peed my pants both times. Once Lowell gets his head on straight, he decides to be present for Hollis’ pregnancy. The more he tries to take care of her, the more her heart softens for him. I don’t care what any of you say…surprise pregnancy is the superior trope. I will die on this hill. I ADORED these narrators. I honestly couldn’t have chosen a better Hollis and Lowell if I had tried. Callie Dalton and Tim Paige have the best rom-com chemistry…even though I know they didn’t record together. Doesn’t matter. I love them and I wish they were MY parents. (Seriously guys. Adopt me.)

This is the second book of the series that I’ve listened to and I absolutely love these characters!! The group feels so cohesive and they are written in a way that you can feel the love and camaraderie between the teammates and their significant others, friends and family. Hollis and Lowell go from enemies to lovers to friends to lovers all while navigating a surprise pregnancy and a lot of mutual acquaintances that are watching every move they make. They are super sweet together in all stages of their relationship and it was entertaining to listen to their story unfold.
The narrators did a wonderful job and I would highly recommend this book to any lover of audiobooks and sports romance lovers!! I cannot wait to dive into Smith’s book.

One Timer is an excellent surprise baby sports romance. I am a bit of a sucker for a hockey themed romance and this one didn’t disappoint. I loved how each character’s past weaves into the story and leads to their healings. The HEA at the end was beautiful and definitely worth the read/listen. The narrators did a fabulous job brining the story to life. Overall this is a hard book to describe, but the short version is Haulis and Cameron have a whole enemies to lovers moment that actually bugged me a bit but as their love story grows that moment is forgiven. Good sweet spicy story that I would definitely recommend.
