Publisher Description
The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller!
What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.
Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.
Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.
It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.
But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.
When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nothing burns hotter than a desire for what you can’t have in this irresistible rom-com. Maya has always had a thing for her big brother Eli’s BFF, Conor. But he’s made it 100 percent clear that, between their family connection and their age gap (she’s 23, he’s 38), it just wouldn’t be right. Maya doesn’t disagree, but she still kinda yearns for him. And when they’re trapped in close proximity for Eli’s destination wedding in Italy, she comes to the shocking realization that maybe, just maybe, he wants her too. This delicious slow-burn smolder features just about everything that romance queen Ali Hazelwood does best, including a handsome, brooding love interest with a deep longing lurking just beneath the surface. We almost couldn’t handle it when we started noticing the true, deliriously romantic meaning behind so many of Conor’s actions. Narrators Elizabeth Lamont and Eric Nolan totally nail the dynamic between the scrappy Maya and the reserved Conor. Let the red flags fly as you escape into this sexy, sun-drenched listen.
Customer Reviews
A great age-gap romance!
Another super enjoyable romance by Ali Hazelwood! I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews about Eric Nolan’s narration! He’s the same guy who narrated the Butcher & Blackbird series and I think he does a fantastic job!
I guess the characters are supposed to be fun and quirky, but it feels like a teenager wrote it
I wasn’t a big fan of this book simply because of the writing and the narrator. It’s written like a teenage girl wrote it. It doesn’t give that the character is 24 and smartest person ever. I feel like at the end of every sentence she’s making his face 🤪. they really beat into your head that he’s older. They make it sound like she’s 19 and he’s 55 but when I finally found out their ages, I was annoyed even more.
it’s just all around wasn’t a good listen. The writing was bad. The narrating was bad. The accents were bad. It was just bad. maybe it just wasn’t for me. I feel like if you were in the age range of 18 to 25 you may like it.
My Favorite AH book
This is truly my favorite Ali Hazelwood book and one of my top 5 favorite books as well. I love so much about the story and Maya and Conor’s love over the years. Plus the side characters are all great as well.
I love the voice acting and think Maya is done incredibly well.
