Publisher Description
The Instant #1 New York Times Bestseller!
What is wrong meets what feels right in this romance set in Italy by the New York Times bestselling author of Deep End.
Maya Killgore is twenty-three and still in the process of figuring out her life.
Conor Harkness is thirty-eight, and Maya cannot stop thinking about him.
It’s such a cliché, it almost makes her heart implode: older man and younger woman; successful biotech guy and struggling grad student; brother’s best friend and the girl he never even knew existed. As Conor loves to remind her, the power dynamic is too imbalanced. Any relationship between them would be problematic in too many ways to count, and Maya should just get over him. After all, he has made it clear that he wants her gone from his life.
But not everything is as it seems—and clichés sometimes become plot twists.
When Maya’s brother decides to get married in Taormina, she and Conor end up stuck together in a romantic Sicilian villa for over a week. There, on the beautiful Ionian coast, between ancient ruins, delicious foods, and natural caves, Maya realizes that Conor might be hiding something from her. And as the destination wedding begins to erupt out of control, she decides that a summer fling might be just what she needs—even if it’s a problematic one.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Nothing burns hotter than a desire for what you can’t have in this irresistible rom-com. Maya has always had a thing for her big brother Eli’s BFF, Conor. But he’s made it 100 percent clear that, between their family connection and their age gap (she’s 23, he’s 38), it just wouldn’t be right. Maya doesn’t disagree, but she still kinda yearns for him. And when they’re trapped in close proximity for Eli’s destination wedding in Italy, she comes to the shocking realization that maybe, just maybe, he wants her too. This delicious slow-burn smolder features just about everything that romance queen Ali Hazelwood does best, including a handsome, brooding love interest with a deep longing lurking just beneath the surface. We almost couldn’t handle it when we started noticing the true, deliriously romantic meaning behind so many of Conor’s actions. Narrators Elizabeth Lamont and Eric Nolan totally nail the dynamic between the scrappy Maya and the reserved Conor. Let the red flags fly as you escape into this sexy, sun-drenched listen.
Customer Reviews
Follow On to Not in Love
Pretty good! Not quite as passionate and pining as Not in Love, but a great addition to Ali Hazelwood’s overall oeuvre! The setting, storytelling, and spiciness are 10/10 as usual. An enjoyable read for a long weekend or roadtrip audiobook.
Hard to Listen
The dynamic range of the main narrator is way too large. Adjusting up to hear the quiet parts makes the loud parts painful!
