Publisher Description

From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn comes a festive short romance about old flames and mistaken identities.

After a bad breakup, Nola wants nothing to do with Christmas, especially in her quaint hometown of Bright Harbor, Maine. Infuriatingly charming and cheery, Nola’s surroundings only worsen her sour mood.

To make matters worse, Caleb, the boy who broke her heart years ago, is all grown up and still living in town. While doing her best to avoid him, Nola bumps into the local mailman, who gives her a mysterious letter. And when she finds that the writer is a fellow Scrooge, she can’t help but feel her spirit lifting.

Nola writes back to her new pen pal—who, unbeknownst to Nola, is none other than Caleb. When Caleb gets a response hand delivered by the mailman, he’s intrigued by the mystery sender. A friendly correspondence develops—and quickly turns flirtatious.

Although Nola and Caleb claim they can’t stand each other, they can’t deny the simmering attraction that brought them together in the first place.

Can these nameless pen pals write their own love story—or will they be too caught up with the ghosts of their Christmases past to find a future together?

Cute

It’s just another copy paste of You Got Mail but Christmas themed.

Christmas fun

I can always count on Meghan Quinn to deliver a fun-filled story full of interesting and quirky characters. Resting Scrooge Face is the perfect Christmas story about two loves finding their way back to each other, with a little help from their friends. I love that characters from Port Snow were featured in the book. It was like revisiting with old friends.

Oh my gosh it made me love contemporary romance!

My friends, it has happened! It’s finally happened! After many, many contemporary holiday romance recommendations I finally took a chance on one and I can say, I AM A CHANGED WOMAN! My all fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal only heart has cracked wide open and let contemporary romance moved in. All thanks to this wonderful quick read Resting Scrooge Face by Meghan Quinn. I laughed, I cheered, I decided that Grandma Louise MUST adopt me. I ended the audiobook wanting more! The whit! The banter! The all too believable and relatable story had me cheering for both Nola and Caleb in their very first chapter. This story will definitely speak to you if you’re headed to your home town with a case of the Christmas blues, or if you love a holiday hometown romance where moth MCs definitely deserve a second chance at love!

Our first MC in this dual narrative is Nola. She had me laughing out loud at her hilarious letter writing, especially her Harry Potter incident and her complex feelings about children’s holiday laughter. I especially loved her phone call about a certain someone’s ties, seriously I’m chuckling just typing that. Narrator Carly Robbins absolutely nailed the timing of all her jokes which were abundant! She made Nola feel so real with the ease in which she read. It never felt like she was reading a script, it was fluid, fun and I would definitely pick up an audiobook based on her being the narrator.

Our second MC Caleb is all too easy to love, that hard exterior hiding a marshmallow underneath who too has all the whit and banter you needed. Not to mention he is clearly a sentimental deep feeling guy. If I could talk to Caleb I’d say “seriously can I have THE box within a box? Your Moms present made me cry! CAN I HUG YOU?!” like the weirdo I am. I’m not ashamed, this guy is LOVABLE! The narrator Aaron Shedlock made his way into my top 3 best male narrators in two hours flat. He’s got it all, the timing, the gravitas, and the humor in his tone at just the right moments. He felt very in the moment, and never for a second like he was reading a script, it felt like the performance you’d get from a movie.

Both of the narrator, and character duos were just so perfectly matched. Even with it being a short story it felt fully fleshed out. Nothing felt rushed whatsoever in the story, or the telling of it. I will definitely be rereading this one whenever I need some joy in my holiday stress. For now I’ll be headed to order every other Meghan Quinn book I can get my grubby little hands on!
