Publisher Description
The most thorough statement of one of Emerson's recurrent themes, the need for each individual to avoid conformity and false consistency, and follow his or her own instincts and ideas. It is the source of one of Emerson's most famous quotations, "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." This essay is considered a watershed moment in which transcendentalism became a major cultural movement. An American classic.
Customer Reviews
Extremely concise but thorough!
A beautifully uplifting monologue on personal power, ability, and responsibility!
Dont like the narration
I always like emerson's work however ,I had a very hard time listening to this audio book due to the bad narration so Im gonna rate this with one star.
Narration Worse Than Bad
This is an absolutely awful product. The Narrator speaks with such untenable cadence and rhythm we should be getting paid to listen to him practice. I wouldn't be surprised if he had no familiarity with what he was presenting. One star is too good for this product I will never use.
