The Complication with the Best Man

Harper and Finn meet at her cousin's wedding when she's the maid of honor and he's the best man. They have chemistry and it takes them to a one-night stand. A few months later and Harper finds out with a test that she's pregnant. Finn lives in Vermont so this would really be a long distance relationship with Harper and her big family living in Alaska. As luck would have it, he's visiting again. She goes to her cousin's house to tell him but finds out that he and his fiance are the new couple that she's the wedding planner. She finds out that he wasn't cheating but on a break from his now fiance.
Harper manages to show Finn and his fiance around. She doesn't get a chance to tell him this time but he comes back alone to check things out. He's kind of freaked out by the news but since the engagement was to help him and his fiance out with her inheritance, he decides that he wants to live where his child will grow up and breaks off the engagement. Things don't go smoothly especially with Buzzwheel involved in seeing everything that happens. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and the duet narration by Scott Rose and Willa Jaymes bringing the characters to life.

Another great Lake Starlight book from Piper Rayne! We are back in town with Harper, the daughter of OG Bailey couple Austin and Holly -- the jeep hookup that started it all. Harper had her own random hookup when she slept with Finn, the best man at her cousin Palmer's wedding. A few weeks later, Harper realizes that she's pregnant (thanks to antibiotics!) — and the situation is further complicated when Finn returns to Lake Starlight with his fiancee, who has booked Harper as the wedding planner!

At first, Harper stays mum about her pregnancy, especially after Finn asked her to keep their one-night quiet. Unbeknownst to Harper, Finn's engagement is a marriage of convenience. So when he accidentally finds out that she's pregnant, he ends his engagement and moves across the country to be closer to his child. Now temporary roommates, Finn and Harper grow closer as they spend time together making plans for their baby... and it's not long before they agree to give the connection between them a real shot.

There's not much drama in this story in terms of Finn's ex (no cheating!), but there is plenty of the Bailey family drama that I love from this crazy clan! I especially loved the way the men all interrogated Finn, led by Austin, and the Buzz Wheel reports. But I especially loved how dedicated Finn was to Harper, and gave her space to prove to herself that while she may have been the family mess-up and irresponsible at times, she was going to be a great mom.

Scott Rose and Willa Jaymes were great with their duet narration in telling this story!
