The Great Gatsby
Publisher Description
Tony Award-winning actor Leslie Odom Jr., who starred in the original cast of Hamilton, breathes new life into F. Scott Fitzgerald’s entertaining Jazz Age classic.
The Roaring Twenties are in full effect in the fictional Long Island beach towns of West and East Egg when Midwesterner Nick Carraway gets caught up in the orbit of man-about-town Jay Gatsby, host of some of the wildest, most extravagant parties you could ever imagine.
The Great Gatsby is a cautionary tale of wealth and excess and a bit of a scathing takedown of celebrity culture. With his mellifluous voice and acting chops, Leslie Odom Jr. is the perfect reader. He pulls us into this timeless story of an outsider looking in—and the impossible, but uniquely human, longing to return to the past.

Great for story telling
Great book, good story.
Mesmerizing!
Odom’s narration is absolutely entrancing. He is a stellar performer and this classic is nothing short of brilliant (especially when read by such a terrific talent)!
Why?
Why is this book so romanticized? Why do teachers and professors teach on it? Why was it popular enough to be made into a movie? Why do people throw "Gatsby" themed parties? This book revolves around nothing but horrible, selfish people, who did nothing but cheat on each other and put each other down. No one cared about anybody else, they all just did what they wanted and no one cared enough to stop them. I will say I am impressed by how much the author was able to fit into 110 pages. I was not a fan of any of the characters, they were all very two-dimensional and cheated on each other or at least knew someone was cheating and said nothing. Also, the way they talked about each other and to each other was horrible and they pretended it wasn't. I'm glad this book was a short read.
