Publisher Description
There are three rules Brooke Sullivan must follow as a new nurse practitioner at a men’s maximum-security prison: 1) Treat all prisoners with respect. 2) Never reveal any personal information. 3) Never EVER become too friendly with the inmates. But none of the staff at the prison knows Brooke has already broken the rules. Nobody knows about her intimate connection to Shane Nelson, one of the penitentiary’s most notorious and dangerous inmates. And they certainly don’t know that Shane was Brooke’s high school sweetheart—the star quarterback who is now spending the rest of his life in prison for a series of grisly murders. Or that Brooke's testimony was what put him there. But Shane knows. And he will never forget.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
A nurse’s new job forces her to confront the darkest day of her life in this electrifying thriller. Looking for a fresh start for herself and her son, single mom Brooke Sullivan returns to her hometown and takes a less-than-ideal job at the local maximum-security prison. But she has a secret she’s keeping from her new bosses: One of the facility’s inmates is Shane Nelson, the man who tried to kill her 11 years ago. Alternating between the present and the night Brooke was nearly strangled with her own necklace, author Freida McFadden takes us on a truly wild ride. We listened in awe through each mind-blowing twist, falling for multiple wickedly clever red herrings along the way. Narrator Leslie Herald adds to the tension, letting us hear Brooke’s evolution from a fragile victim into a seriously tough mama bear. If you’re looking for a thriller that will have you totally enthralled, don’t pass up The Inmate.
Customer Reviews
You never know!
I enjoyed this book. Every time I thought I knew what was going on another twist happened.
This book is good! Go read it!
Not for mature readers
This book is decidedly immature. Too much teenage angst coupled with repetitive plot reminders as if children are the audience. It should be in the YA category for certain.
The problem is….
With Freida’s stories you know there is always a crazy twist or two… so I’m always trying to guess what it is thru the whole thing and I know the murder is last person I expect… that being said I plan on listening to every one of her audiobooks. They are very entertaining.
