Publisher Description
The audiobook features a bonus conversation between Gregg Hurwitz and #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner, author of the award-winning Detective D. D. Warren novels.
Evan Smoak returns in The Last Orphan, the next New York Times bestselling Orphan X thriller--when everything changes and everything is at risk.
As a child, Evan Smoak was plucked out of a group home, raised and trained as an off-the-books assassin for the government as part of the Orphan program. When he broke with the program and went deep underground, he left with a lot of secrets in his head that the government would do anything to make sure never got out.
When he remade himself as The Nowhere Man, dedicated to helping the most desperate in their times of trouble, Evan found himself slowly back on the government's radar. Having eliminated most of the Orphans in the program, the government will stop at nothing to eliminate the threat they see in Evan. But Orphan X has always been several steps ahead of his pursuers.
Until he makes one little mistake...
Now the President has him in her control and offers Evan a deal - eliminate a rich, powerful man she says is too dangerous to live and, in turn, she'll let Evan survive. But when Evan left the Program he swore to only use his skills against those who really deserve it. Now he has to decide what's more important - his principles or his life.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The president pulls a former black-ops assassin back into the fold in this high-octane listen. After going rogue, former government operative Evan Smoak (aka Orphan X, aka the Nowhere Man) has done a pretty good job of avoiding capture—until the day he slips up. Now he’s back in government custody, forcibly recruited for one more job: taking out a brilliant and charismatic billionaire with far too much political leverage. This installment in Gregg Hurwitz’s long-running Orphan X series is packed with deep intrigue and explosive action. Evan is a pitch-perfect antihero: a wounded, brooding badass who lives by a code of honor but won’t hesitate to enact brutally efficient violence when he has to. Veteran narrator Scott Brick’s voice is like a steel cable, delivering the thrilling tale with total precision and strength. If you’re a fan of the John Wick movies, check out this dark, gripping listen.

Good title.
Didn’t agree with description of Mattapan, Ma at all. Living in Boston and frequent Mattapan, maybe it’s a little dated.
Good but not great
I didn’t enjoy this book as much as the others but I still rate it a solid 3.5 stars. One of my biggest petty gripes about Orphan X is it seems the Nowhere Man is not a well kept secret, everyone seems to know about him. The book starts with the not soo secret mythical Nowhere Man being gossiped about in a different country from a random person. So now random people are aware of him, his title, and his reputation but that’s cool because people don’t really know what he looks like.
Also, I love Brick Scott but he seems to be more and more theatrical narrating this series and I am not enjoying it. I feel weird saying this because I think he’s great and I didn’t have an issue with his narration during books 1-6 but not the last two books. But that is a minor complaint.
But with all that said I did enjoy the plot. I love that this book was actioned packed. Evan encounters a lot of road blocks and has to fight and outsmart his way out of a lot of difficult situations.
I loved his interaction with Joey, their relationship truly makes me smile. Joey is a fun and funny side kick. I hate that other relationships may be coming to an end.
This book was good and I cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Yes please
OMG these books make me so happy. Thank you Gregg, for writing Evan, and Scott for bringing him to life. Pure joy when I listen to these.
