Publisher Description
An emotional story told by a murdered young girl as she watches her family grieve and her killer try to cover up his crimes.
"My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973."
So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her—her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling.
Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, The Lovely Bones succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy.
Customer Reviews
Excruciatingly monotone
I’m sure this author has a lot of talents, but she should have never been asked to read this book. It was so difficult to get through because of how monotone she was. I lost interest so many times, and had to force myself to continue because it was so bland! Find another way, other than with her reading it, to listen to/read this book!
The lovely bones
Why did they let this author narrate her own book??? Absolutely TERRIBLE narration! I can’t even finish this book because she reads it so horribly. Totally flat, monotone and no emotion in an extremely emotional book. If I could get a refund, I would definitely do so.
