A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
From USA TODAY bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a “masterpiece” (Locus Magazine) of a novel about revenge, cultural identity, and the cost of breaking from tradition. Labeled “one of 2020’s buzziest horror novels” (Entertainment Weekly), this is a remarkable horror story that “will give you nightmares—the good kind of course” (BuzzFeed).
From New York Times bestselling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a violent, vengeful way.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Predator becomes prey in this creepy and harrowing horror story by rising star Stephen Graham Jones. A decade after an illegal elk hunt on the Blackfeet Nation reservation, one member of the hunting party—who has left the rez—starts having disturbing visions. Lingering guilt and trauma explode in violence. Jones, himself a member of the Blackfeet Nation, is a master of both jump scares and slow-building dread. Among the blood and gore, he explores Indigenous culture and identity—and the real-life horrors of how Native Americans are treated. Narrator Shaun Taylor-Corbett deftly balances Jones’ mix of terror and dark humor. A piece of 21st-century social commentary in the form of a horror story, The Only Good Indians is a must-listen.

Just odd
DNF. There are a lot of good elements to this but for some reason I kept having to read about basketball. I honestly just couldn’t take it anymore, I kept trying to skip ahead but then there was just more basketball, like everything could be related back to playing basketball. BASKETBALL!!!
Best one yet
Love the way he reads the book and definitely had a twist to the story I was totally baffled and couldn’t believe I didn’t catch on quicker !! Great book
Amazingly written
The story of elk head woman was amazing. I am an outdoorsman and a hunter, and I found the story reminded me of my childhood, and being raised as a no waste Hunter. The strikes me as a reminder of the promise we make when we harvest beast to eat. That raw emotional connection unfold as well in the story
