There's no place like home…
Blake Porter is riding high, until he's not. Fired abruptly from his job as a VP of marketing and unable to make the mortgage payments on the new brownstone he shares with his fiancée, he's desperate to make ends meet.
Enter Whitney. Beautiful, charming, down-to-earth, and looking for a room to rent. She's exactly what Blake's looking for. Or is she?
Because something isn't quite right. The neighbors start treating Blake differently. The smell of decay permeates his home, no matter how hard he scrubs. Strange noises jar him awake in the middle of the night. And soon Blake fears someone knows his darkest secrets...

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The answer to a couple’s financial woes could be their total undoing in this wild domestic thriller from Freida McFadden. Blake couldn’t have chosen a worse moment to be fired from his lucrative marketing job. He and his fiancée, Krista, have just purchased a tony brownstone—and if they want to keep it, they’ll need to rent out a room. Their new tenant, Whitney, seems like a godsend at first, but suspicious late-night sounds (and smells) soon have Blake scrambling down a paranoid rabbit hole from which he may not escape. The tense, bizarre, increasingly frantic atmosphere surrounding this mystery had us absolutely hooked. The question of what was really going on with Whitney drew us in deeper and deeper before the unhinged twists sent us spinning. We won’t reveal any more here, but suffice to say narrators Will Damron and Christine Lakin make this chaotic thrill ride a true up-all-night listen.

Saw it coming
I knew who the killer was way in advance l. However, this book was still enjoyable! I’ve loved all of the Freida McFadden books that I’ve read so far and will continue to read them all 😆
Whiny man baby with tantrums
I’m only about one third in the audiobook. The main character is whiny and yells at people instead of talking. His default mode is to yell. He is the most annoying man on earth 🌍. He is not always wrong. But he’s annoying in how he goes about things. To be fair, every character in this book is annoying. His fiancé is also an idiot - just like him. Also, the audiobook doesn’t have a table of contents or chapters. It’s broken into random “tracks”. Zero respect for listeners.
Twists
So many twists. I kept getting surprised .
