The Wings of the Dove
I have been buying and listening to audiobooks with great enjoyment for several years. This is the only time that I thought the narrator was so labored and dreadful that I could not listen to the book. This narrator needs a shot of vitamins or some other remedy to counteract his lethally slow and boring reading of one of my favorite novelists, Henry James. Before buying this book, I had just listened, with rapture, to three of Henry James' other books, and I love his writing. To pay $12 for this book and then find it necessary to erase it from my ipod after the first hour was horribly disappointing. Spend the extra $10 or $15 and get a version worth hearing. Not only was the narrator a complete failure, but there is some background noise that drones on and on without stopping. That really finished me off.
