Publisher Description
This is an Apple Books audiobook narrated by a digital voice based on a human narrator.
Virgil Push, the golden boy of Vermin County was handed a silver spoon worth 16 million dollars. He used it to sample all the decadence of life. Without care or thought for others, he took that spoon and rode it. Fast and far away from Vermin County as he could get.
But the ride skidded to a stop. All of it slipping away in bankrupcy, poor choices and debauchery. Now Virgil is back in the town he swore never to return to. Divorced, destitute, serving as mayor in a job he's been told is easy as pie.
He's done a lot of shitty things in his life. The worst he's yet to do.
Serving a citation to cease and desist business operations on Miz Ruby Mae Shove. The town's most beloved widow and her home-based business. Easy as pie? Hell!
They have a past. One that ended ugly before it ever caught fire. But the flames of desire have never simmered. For fifteen freakin' years! Flames of passion and want that distance and sacred vows to others could never damper. Or diminish.
He's got secrets. She does, too.
He wants a second chance. A future with her. She wants to keep her business. A roof over her head.
The battle of wills is about to being.
May the best man -- and woman -- win.

Love the story line, but….
The story was great. I love the characters and the story was nicely written. My only complaint is the narration. It was really bad at times where words were pronounced wrong and characters who are a certain sex had the opposites sex’s voice. It was strange.
Just started the second book and the narrator is much better so far.
If choosing audio version not recommended
The story line of this book was okay. Possibly what made it more challenging to follow was the AI narration was awful, it switched tone when should have been a female it was a male and vice versa, the tone or expressions did not align with what was being read and high pitched at times.
When push comes to shove.
I didn’t like how inappropriate the book started from just the first few paragraphs. Not listening to this one.
