You Gotta Get Up

Love this book!

Funny thing is...I don't usually write reviews (despite relying on them myself). "You Gotta Get Up" is hands-down the most enjoyable audiobook I've ever had. I'm so glad she narrated in her own voice. I love her beautiful southern accent and comedic personality. She delivers empowering, encouraging messages that provide insight and practical guidance for meaningful life transformation in every chapter. This audiobook is inspiring, engaging, with relatable and digestible nuggets throughout, and God's promises are at the heart of it.

Thanks to powerful testimonies from so many brave people who got up for themselves, listeners got a real sense of what it means to "get up" and how it's a personal choice. Throughout the book, the author weaves Bible stories into real-modern day life challenges. I love how the book ends every chapter with a declaration and prayer for you to repeat aloud, to further transform your mindset!

It doesn't matter where you're at in life, if you're sick and tired of being sick and tired, or if you know it's time to get out of your current situation, but you don't know what to do, or if you're so caught up in your own head that you don't feel like you can do it...This audiobook is for you... You'll have no choice but to believe, as you pray, read, and absorb all this info + God's promises on the inside of you!!! We all know someone who needs to hear this, even if you seem to have it all together.

I paused, reflected, laughed, cried, and sometimes wondered...how on earth did she know so much about me? "You Gotta Get Up" is so relatable and raw. It was like she spoke directly to so many of my current struggles and situations I have encountered in my own life. You'll feel like you're chatting it up with your best friend, spiritual mother, sister, and most importantly, an accountability partner that gives you the REAL TALK (Kim), the spiritual talk- the necessary talk.

I initially purchased this book in print, but after just one chapter, I downloaded the audio version. This is just one of those books you must have when you're on the go! I listen to it while driving or working out! It's food for the soul. This is not something you'll listen to once and never listen to again. Nope. You'll listen and revisit it whenever you need a refresh. These tools are things you need to keep close and get deep on the inside. 

As I listened, I just kept thanking God for this amazing woman who remained obedient and embraced the call on her life to bless us and breathe life back into many of us who she may never even meet. I am so grateful. I can only imagine where I would be or the state of my relationships if I had this information 20 years ago when I was a young woman trying to navigate life while holding onto childhood trauma and baggage. Hence, I'm sharing this with everyone I know and I challenge you to do the same! 

“You Gotta Get Up” is a must-read and/or listen if you want to get out of your way and become the person God destined you to be. Decide, take action, and get up!
