Lee f’ing Burrows
The Kingsmen’s star quarterback.
Legendary throwing arm.
Six-pack abs.
Kissable lips.
Oh, but don’t forget, he’s also a lying, heartless egomaniac who broke my heart in college.
It took me years to build myself back up after his deceit, and now I have the dream opportunity to prove myself working as a sports therapist for a professional team.
The hurdle? Or mountain to be more accurate…
The job is with the San Francisco Kingsmen.
Back when I was a naïve college girl, I felt lucky that he even noticed me. Now eight years later, he’d be lucky if I gave him the time of day.
Which I won’t. Not ever.
Some people don’t deserve a second chance and Lee Burrows is one of them.
Now if someone could only tell him that because he’s hell-bent on scoring the winning touchdown and won’t accept that it’s game over for us.

This audiobook checks all the Piper Rayne boxes
I am a huge Piper Rayne fan. A sucker for a romantic comedy. I love their good guys and their bad boys, all of whom seem to be bad boys behind closed doors. Par for the course, this audiobook includes romance, comedic banter, steamy chemistry, and plenty of emotion to seal the deal for stories that leave you feeling good with their happy ending. This audiobook checks all the Piper Rayne boxes. This is a second chance romance fraught with conflict arising from a previous relationship which ended badly when the heroine overhears something which leaves her feeling humiliated and unable to trust the hero. The hero, Lee Burrows, never forgets her, his one regret, and the girl who got away. When their paths cross professionally almost a decade later, a no fraternization policy adds to the barriers between what Lee wishes for and what is possible. I’m not going to spoil this, but it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to guess what might happen next. The narrators do an outstanding job bringing this story to life, including reading their characters regardless of whose POV is being narrated. Joe Arden is always a swoon worthy listen in my book, and he definitely does Lee Burrows justice, as does the female narrator. I was sad when this book ended because I loved this couple, so I may have to listen again tomorrow! I am voluntarily submitting this review after listening to an advanced complementary copy.
Meh
Narration is amazing— plot is subpar.
Fun start
What a great way to start the series. I knew I remembered Burrows and the hero is the brother of another Burrows, one that is a hockey star in Piper Rayne's Hockey Hotties series. (Read that series, it was fun). And this story is no different. Building on a fantastic, funny and sweet group of sports stars, I loved that each of the characters were so great together but also, made me interested in them each getting their HEA. And Lee Burrows and Shayna are fantastic together. An enemies to lovers second chance romance, I really liked how the second chance worked out- the progression was realistic and not too rushed and through it all, as a reader, I identified and really loved the two as separate characters and together. And the rest of the group? I can't wait to get more into the Kingsmen! They are a fantastic, funny group of characters!
And add in a fantastic narration by Callie Dalton and Joe Arden? This story just came to life!
