2 Thessalonians - The Lord Is Faithful

The Apostle Paul wrote his second letter to the Thessalonians to encourage this church to endure persecution by remembering God’s justice. In the end, Jesus wins. Justice will be served. God will repay those who persecute his people. It is better to be suffering for Jesus now than to be an enemy of God who will suffer at the hands of Jesus later.

Paul also clarified that Jesus had not returned. Those in the church of Thessalonica who thought they missed Jesus’ return were wrong. Certain things must take place before Christ's return. Until those events take place, Jesus will not return. This helps us with the modern-day end-time fanatics who predict that Jesus could return at any moment. Unless the events Paul tells us about in this book have occurred, we know the end-time prognosticators are wrong.

Finally, Paul admonished those who were idle among them. Everyone who can get a job should. They should provide for themselves and their families. Christians should put themselves in a position to contribute to the needs of others instead of relying on others for their daily needs.
