Simplified but . . .
I'm impressed with this book as a starting point for those that have no basic Bible knowledge. I found some gold nuggets useful in discipleship and evangelism. However, in an attempt to simplify, some things have been simplified to a fault. Example: In the chapter on the Missions era Anders says that the Jerusalem Council determined that "Gentiles do not have to become Jewish . . .." The only way any person becomes Jewish is to be born a descendent of Jacob. I'm sure there was no controversy at the Council about that.
On another note, Anders makes a good clear statement in the chapter on salvation that works, good or bad, have nothing to do with going to heaven. Then he muddies the water in the Appendix. A discussion of the difference between Salvation and Sanctification would make a nice addition to the book. I'm glad I read it and will recommend it to others . . . along with a grain of salt.
