Publisher Description
As Jane Marple sat basking in the tropical sunshine she felt mildly discontented with life. True, the warmth eased her rheumatism, but here in paradise nothing ever happened. Then a question was put to her by a stranger: 'Would you like to see a picture of a murderer?' Before she has a chance to answer, the man vanishes, only to be found dead the next day. The mysteries abound: Where is the picture? Why is the hotelier prone to nightmares? Why doesn't the most talked-about guest, a reclusive millionaire, ever leave his room? And why is Miss Marple herself fearful for her life?
Of note: A Caribbean Mystery introduces the wealthy (and difficult) Mr Jason Rafiel, who will call upon Miss Marple for help in Nemesis (1971) -- after his death.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
An idyllic tropical getaway is the perfect locale for a devilish murder—one that only the brilliant Miss Jane Marple could hope to solve. In Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit, the kindly detective is visiting her nephew on the gorgeous tropical island of St. Honoré when a fusty old British major is found dead, quickly followed by two other people. With her impeccable skills as an amateur sleuth, Miss Marple slyly starts investigating the case, and Christie quickly introduces us to each of St. Honoré’s quirky and memorable suspects—including a philandering husband and his married paramour, a rich elderly man’s attractive male masseuse, and the possibly unstable wife of the resort owner. On a real beach vacation or just a mental one, A Caribbean Mystery is a perfect traveling companion.

A great who dunnit
Wellllllll…..
A fun read indeed!! This might be the first of the Dame’s books that I have managed to figured out the villain at least halfway through. What I adored was Miss Marple being more or less out of her element and finding allies by process of elimination. It is a great story and one that kept me totally engaged.
Note - this book has some very unfortunate ethnic and cultural references that are a shock to see in print.
