A young girl risks everything to fulfill her life's purpose.


Lula Darling and her mother, Ella Mae, have escaped the terrors of slavery in the deep antebellum South and now want to enjoy their freedom and adjust to life in the twenty-first century. They soon learn, however, that their newfound existence is anything but safe or easy.
