J.E.B. Spredemann's A Secret Encounter, Book Two of Amish Secrets, is wonderful!! This is a story of family and friends, romance, new beginnings, redemption and compassion. I love how she treats the issue of homelessness through primary female character (protagonist) Anna and Linda, who is her boss at Threads of Beauty. The poignant issue is treated informatively - with concern and love - but never in a preachy way. I also appreciated how Spredemann touched on the unfair and painful, judgmental treatment of soldiers who returned home from the war. This hateful treatment, both during and after the war, was devastating to the men who had obeyed the law and tried to help the people of South Vietnam in their fight against oppression by the North Vietnamese - some sacrificing their limbs and even their lives. Throughout the book, a personal faith in Jesus is woven through the lives of most of the characters. She portrays the Amish as people like us - with some good qualities while also having some areas that could use improvement.Spredemann is a gifted author. I look forward to reading the rest of this series and will recommend it to any friends who ask me for reading recommendations!

Sweet Story
You can’t go wrong with a story with the theme “God is good.” It isn’t always easy to trust or wait on the Lord, but His way is always the best way and that is reflected in this book.
