APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Kylie and Joe are an unlikely couple—she's an artist, he's an ex-military security pro, and they're both allergic to commitment. When they team up to solve a mystery, though, their hearts unexpectedly open, revealing long-kept secrets and buried tenderness. This installment of Jill Shalvis' Heartbreaker Bay series really sizzles thanks to some especially steamy scenes. But her sensitive writing gives the book's heroes the kind of charisma that'll make even the hardest heart wish for a happy ending.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
In Shalvis's fun fifth Heartbreaker Bay contemporary (after Chasing Christmas Eve), the magical fountain at the heart of San Francisco's Cow Hollow district is working overtime to put couples together, but somehow Shalvis makes the trope feel fresh and exciting. Joe Malone, who's retired from the military and working (like every other romance hero) in private security, shares a spontaneous, world-rocking kiss with woodworker Kylie Masters in front of the fountain. After that, Joe's quite willing to help Kylie find a wooden penguin that was left to her by her grandfather and subsequently stolen. As they traipse across the city, they quickly realize the missing figurine is part of a fraud scheme. Joe and Kylie's families (and Kylie's dog, Vinnie) add depth to this treasure hunt. Series readers will enjoy seeing previously featured couples offering their advice and assistance.

Love & Suspense
Kylie Masters missed her grandfather terribly. He was an extraordinary woodworking artist and a loving guardian. Although Kylie wasn’t as talented as her late grandfather, her woodworking was still remarkable and sought after. Kylie was embarrassed by her mother’s flirtatious and loose behavior. Kylie kept a tight control over her emotions. She didn’t want to become her mother. But after a favorite possession of hers was stolen, and she started, to receive blackmail notes regarding it, Kylie enlisted the help of a handsome investigator, one whom she once shared a kiss with, Joe Malone.
Kylie sincerely hoped that she hadn’t inherited her mother’s provocative ways. Keeping her sexual feelings hidden was Kylie’s norm. But, when it came to Joe Malone, control seemed to be the farthest thing from Kylie’s mind. And the more time she spent with Joe, the harder it became to resist the handsome investigator.
About That Kiss is an enjoyable read. If you love romance with a bit of mystery, this may be just the book for you.
Thank you, Avon Publishing and Edelweiss, for my advanced review copy.
Couldn’t put it down
I read this book straight through. I absolutely fell in love with Joe and Kylie. I loved the way Jill Shalvis mixed mystery and romance. Her characters have issues that are challenging but not insurmountable. Great story, highly recommended.
Loved the Kiss
Loved the first kiss, shouldn't it always be the best!! But it was something that Kylie and Joe tried to forget. Kylie though, now needs Joe's expertise in helping her find the lost penguin. The penguin is a one of a kind and holds many sentimental memories. Joe and Kylie join forces in the hunt of the penguin but soon they can't fight off the sexual chemistry that they share. The only problem is Joe is not the forever man or will it change with Kylie.
I so enjoyed this book, plenty of humor, friends, romance and the mystery of the penguin. This book is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend this book. Jill Shalvis is an auto buy for me!!
