ALBERT SUPERSIZE, Book #3 in the ALBERT THE TORTOISE children’s picture book series is a lot of fun in all the ways that all the Albert books are fun... only bigger. Eoin Clarke truly outdid himself this time with his gorgeous animations. I won’t give away how it is that Albert is transported to the late Cretaceous, only that author Ian Brown handles it seamlessly. Once again, it’s the author narrating and with all the great voices and sound effects we’ve come to expect. This time, instead of Albert receiving help from his friends, it’s his friends who receive help from him. Yes, Albert is the flat-out hero in this one. And although he still has all his garden friends, he now has dinosaur friends as well. Plus, he transfers what he learned in one situation to a problem he encounters in the next. All kinds of great lessons for kids about helping others and about friendship, learning and problem-solving. Also, there’s a volcano.
