Great Lessons for Kids
“Hugg ‘n’ Bugg: The Comb” is the second book about the friendship between the Himalayan yeti (Hugg) and the mountain flea (Bugg) by Ian Brown and Eoin Clarke. In the first book we learn of the symbiotic relationship between them: Hugg gives the flea a warm place to live (in his fur) and Bugg keeps the hairy yeti styled and clean. All of that changes in Book #2 when Hugg finds a comb. Great lessons on friendship here for kids. Because, really, why should anyone stay friends with someone he no longer needs? Without giving anything away, let me just say that throughout the course of this book, we learn very well the reasons why. Additionally, there’s also a bit of wisdom on the true nature of bullies. This rhyming story feels more than ever like something Dr. Seuss might have written were he still with us. The Apple Books version brings Eoin Clarke’s gorgeous illustrations to animated life and the narration by Ian Brown adds another dimension to the story with different voices for each of the characters.
