Alex’s Story
How a Child with Autism Expresses His Feelings About Seclusion
Publisher Description
Alex created this book when he was 7 years old. When he was in elementary school, he was subjected to multiple counts of restraint and seclusion. In 2014, Alex began advocating for the needs of all children with special needs. Specifically, he is interested in addressing the social justice issue regarding the improper use of restraint and seclusion on children with disabilities. Alex used this story to help promote awareness about how children feel when they are retrained and secluded by their teachers and/or principals.
