In Ann's Pans & Cans, 6th reader, the child has the opportunity to create new words from the digraph “an,” such as, pan, can, and fan. The sentences are kept simple, allowing the child to feel successful. All kinds of objects can be made from cans. Cans are made of all kinds of metals. A can may be forced into a variety of shapes. As teachers and parents, it is up to you to stimulate the child to become aware of the different meanings and uses of the word “can.” Don’t let “can” jut be a three letter word.
