Publisher Description
Historical romance takes to the high seas. Famed spy Lady Lisbeth Medford is on a ship bound for the West Indies, and the only thing more dangerous than her mission is the elusive Duke she’s trying to capture.
Lady Lisbeth Medford, Countess of Waterstone and famed international spy, is caught between the devil and the deep blue sea. She’s determined to infiltrate a notorious smuggling ring in the West Indies while on a covert mission as a ship’s captain. But even when her identity is compromised and she’s forced to flee, the men chasing her are still hot on her heels.
The trouble in front of her, however, might be even worse. Raphael Saint, the Duc de Viel, is her ship’s new aggravating and dangerously charming sailing master, who might very well be part of the smuggling ring Lisbeth must bring to justice. But when a new deadly threat on the high seas looms, the only way out of danger is to face it…together.

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Two smugglers steal each other's hearts in Howard's sultry and suspenseful tale of high seas intrigue, the fourth in the Daring Dukes series (after The Duke in Question). Readers meet Lady Lisbeth Medford, Countess of Waterstone, an espionage agent for the U.S. Treasury, in 1868, two years into a covert mission to capture Charles Dubois, "the Prince of Smugglers." Undercover as the ruthless smuggler Bonnie Bess, she feels she's nearing her prey. Unbeknownst to her, however, her new sailing master, Raphael Saint, is Dubois's nephew, and, believing that Dubois killed his father, he's on a mission of revenge. Each suspects the other is keeping secrets, but they're drawn together by sizzling chemistry, sharp banter, and rowdy adventures. The more Raphael proves his loyalty and Lisbeth shows compassion, especially to the ship's 12-year-old ward, the more they let go of their wariness and embrace their undeniable connection. What will happen, however, when the truth comes to light? Howard keeps the pages turning with breathtaking action and blazing-hot sex scenes while still taking plenty of time to flesh out her lovable leads. Readers will be swept away.

Smugglers, Pirates, and Spies
This is an adventurous story with spies, smugglers, and pirates. Lady Lisbeth Medford, Countess of Waterstone, better known as Bonnie Bess, is a British agent working with the American Treasury Department. Raphael Saint, Duc de Viel, is a smuggler with an altruistic purpose. They both want to capture Charles Dubois for different reasons. It is Lisbeth’s current assignment. Saint is after him for revenge, a family betrayal. Unexpectedly, they track Dubois from the Caribbean to New York and back. Their adventure is filled with action, intrigue, danger, and a sizzling high-seas romance. Will they succeed in their mission to capture Dubois? Will their sea-going romance lead to something more? The plot is solid and the characters well-developed. The secondary characters are quite interesting, especially an adorable foul-mouth teen who has the hero, the heroine, and the entire ship’s crew wrapped around her little finger.
