Publisher Description

ISLAMABAD -- Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has laid emphasis on the joint destinies of the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan and their united efforts towards establishing peace and security in the region noting that any ill afflicting Pakistan would have implications for peace and stability in Afghanistan and the troubles plaguing Afghan society would adversely affect Pakistan as well. Inaugurating a two days conference "Pakistan-Afghanistan: Towards Mutual Security, Stability and Trade", organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad in collaboration with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung on Friday, Foreign Minister Qureshi explained the importance of economic ties, trade routes and the usefulness of the quadrilateral mechanisms to enhance engagement among countries in the region. In a forceful manner, he underlined the need for the multi-level contacts between the people from two countries in order to better understand each other's view points. He was particularly keen about establishing such contacts between the parliamentarians on both sides of the border.
