At Christmas Time

In this poignant tale by Anton Chekhov, Vasilisa longs for her daughter, Yefimya, who left for Petersburg after her wedding and ceased all communication. Over four years, Vasilisa's thoughts are consumed by the unknown fate of her daughter. Whether milking the cow or dozing at night, the relentless worry about Yefimya's well-being becomes a constant companion, defining the old woman's existence. Chekhov explores the enduring and haunting nature of maternal love, tinged with the agony of uncertainty.
