Girls summer trip gone wrong
Three friends go on a summer abroad vacation to one of their family’s homes. One of the girls tragically passes and the details of the night are unclear, but the two remaining girls are prime suspects. Their names are eventually cleared and they are able to return home, but no one ever completely believes their story and it seems like the trauma has affected their memory of the details of the night as well. One girl is majorly affected and lets it eat away at them, while the other seems unbothered, therefore they quickly grow apart. The story fast forwards to their lives years later (about ten years or so I believe) where the two girls reconnect and the truth of what happened finally gets revealed. Interesting book. Not your typical thriller, but a good read.
Thoughtful construct
I enjoyed the unpacking of so many levels of love and loss, lies and truths. A good story doesn’t always need an ending. For me, puzzling things out beyond the final page is an absolute bonus!
Not worth it!
This book is so drawn out! I couldn’t get into the story because the storyline wasn’t going anywhere. I tried the audiobook as well and eventually gave up.
