Scary, suspenseful and full of surprises!!
Halloween at my house was always full of costumes, candy and festive decorations. We never had a scary movie night but I can definitely see how that would enhance the already fun and special holiday. In Ms.O'Brien's new book “Bleed,” which is part one of her Skull Serial Killer Thriller Series, we meet Fox and her cousin, Jack, who are as close as sisters and lovers of everything Halloween. This year, though, a young girl had been murdered by a masked killer and the whole town was on edge as to who might be next. Fox kept looking over her shoulder wherever she went and it didn’t help her nerves when one of her friends snuck up on her wearing the same type of mask. As the story progressed, I tried to imagine which character could possibly be the serial killer but I came up empty handed. Instead, I decided to delve into the mind of a serial killer and what could have possibly happened in someone’s life to cause them to stab a perfect stranger, a young girl, who was an innocent pawn in a diabolical game.
What could this poor girl have done to deserve such a violent death? Why does Fox sense that she was somehow connected to the actions of the serial killer? She became obsessed with the case and was afraid that everyone around her could be in danger. As I finished reading, I was shocked when the identity of the serial killer was revealed because it was someone I never expected it to be. Once the pieces of the puzzle were all in place it was a relief to some, but others weren't convinced that danger wasn’t still lurking in the dark of night.
