Oh, my heart
I read my first Layla Rayne a little more than a year ago, and I was instantly hooked. Her characters, her dialogue and her storytelling all keep me coming back for more. In Blue Plate Special, she wove a beautiful story about trust, overcoming adversity and creating a family. Oh, and the food! I was hungry throughout the reading of this book!
Noah and Ezra were easy men to admire and root for. The fact that Ezra knew Noah most of his life, before he escaped his father, and actually helped him get away, made their pairing more emotional for me. From page one, I was invested in not only their relationship but them as individuals.
Ms. Rayne pack a full length story into a novella format that didn’t feel like anything was missing. Of course, I’d love more Noah and Ezra, but don’t we all want more of the characters we’ve come to love? I doubt we’ve seen the last of them, though.
Favorite line of the book…“I like me when I’m with you.” That’s going to stay with me for a long time, and many more books from now.
