Briggs makes a well-deserved move into hardcover with the rousing fourth adventure for kick-ass were-coyote auto mechanic Mercedes Thompson. Healing in body and spirit after the events of 2008's Iron Kissed, Mercy is preparing to marry alpha werewolf Adam Hauptman when an old friend asks her to help fend off a nasty ghost. It's a good time for Mercy to leave Portland, Ore.: vampire queen Marsilia is after her and her vampire friend Stefan for successfully hunting down a monster that should have killed them. Mercy leaves Adam to negotiate peace with Marsilia and heads to Spokane, Wash., to investigate the ghost, an unexpectedly complicated task. Though action supersedes characterization, the preternatural culture of vampire seethes and wolf pack politics is deeply intriguing. Briggs provides plenty of detail about Mercy's complex world without boring info-dumps, satisfying both new and longtime readers.

Ever changing, ever awesome
First werewolves, then vampires, then fae, now ghosts. Briggs keeps bringing fresh ideas and a fresh story to this fantastic series. The characters continue to grow and develop, especially Mercy in light of the events at the end of Iron Kissed (Book 3). This book presents a new challenge for Mercy and at the same time sees a resolution to a looming threat. Briggs does an excellent job of integrating the two main story lines as well as continuing to develop the relationship between Mercy and both Adam and Samuel. Many series fall into a formula by the fifth book, but Briggs keeps delivering fresh, new, exciting stories.
Captivating
for the record- I originally am a smutty reader! But this actually keeps my attention with out all that! Its like watching John wick and vampire diaries at the same time.
Excellent story
Reading a Mercy story is like visiting with good friends. I like to re-read the series when ever I get a new release.
