Byline: Ali Sheikh With the increase in Saudi Aramco Contact Price (CP) by $ 37 to $ 890 per ton, the price of locally sold liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been enhanced to Rs 89,000 a ton, a price which is beyond the reach of poor LPG consumers. How to make LPG affordable for a common man who is not linked to piped gas network? Simply, calculate the price of LPG on the basis of its local production cost which is not more than Rs 15,000 per ton. But then how to attract LPG import? This means that LPG price should be in between its international price and cost of locally produced LPG.
